YoungPlanet is an app that lets parents use unused children’s things with new families, away from landfills, for free.

 

At the forefront of the circular consumer economy in the UK, YoungPlanet specifically enlists parents as the household champions of the developing linear to circular transition – digitising and scaling the age-old practice of ‘hand-me-downs’.

 

It launched nationally in October 2021 to explosive results in communities across the UK and has had over 150,000 users to date, evidence that #ParentsGetIt.

The Problem

Raising children costs a lot, creates a lot of waste, and doesn’t have to – linear consumption is the problem.

Target Market and Opportunity

Servicing parents in the UK initially, YoungPlanet is unlimited by territory, culture, or language and will launch into its first overseas market in Q4 ’22.

 

YoungPlanet’s offer and utility will have a positive environmental, social, and cultural impact where there are children and parents impacting the environment and costing money.

 

In the UK, there are >7m households with financially dependent children, and the app will be broadened through international expansion, as well as extension into offer adjacencies; long-term, there is no structural barrier to prevent it from becoming a circular platform with the breadth and depth of eBay.
