Vision and Value Proposition

Groubook is a pre-booking tool which makes group bookings simpler, less risky and cheaper for the organiser. The Groubook platform has become the place which makes group bookings and individual bookable, saving awkward conversations about money and making it much easier to find and secure spaces and things to do with exclusive discounts offered to users.

For venues, we have entirely eradicated no-shows, which happen to 1in7 bookings, which occur directly to 1in4 in our core target market. Groubook also vastly increases venues’ pre-booking revenue as everything on our platform has a charge that occurred with it. Alongside this, Groubook allows venues to take pre-orders on large group bookings and is now a staple part of many operators’ sales strategy.

Groubook partners with students and businesses to simplify social gatherings, increase revenue, and eliminate venues’ no-shows.

The Problem

  • Customers wish to simplify socialising with their friends as it takes four platforms for users to organise nights out.
  • With the cost of living going up, users want to see discounted offers on nights out
  • Often one person takes on the financial burden of paying for an entire group
  • Our merchants do not wish to pay overpriced commission rates for attracting customers or issuing event tickets
  • Our target operators have an issue with no-shows, which leads to lost revenue
  • Operators do not want to issue invoices and chase customers for payments and deposits

Target Market and Opportunity

  • The British public spends over £200bn annually on the leisure and hospitality industry.
  • Groubook’s primary target market is University Students. The UK Student market consists of 2.3 million pupils. This market goes out on average two times per week and, on average, spends £17.60 on a night out. Our market will allow us to take a customer at 18 years old and then go with them throughout university and into adult life with a more mature offering & higher spend rates PP.
  • Our secondary Target Market is Millennials. The UK has 14.2 million millennials, and this market goes out on average once a week and spends £66 on a night out. We plan to infiltrate their employers.
  • As a company, we work with our users and have a cradle-to-grave lifecycle as long as our offering matures.

The Solution

  • Save & earn, an average saving of 20% for users and allowing them to make additional discounts through rewards programmes.
  • Personalised and individual group bookings eliminate any financial risk taken by an individual.
  • Pre-booking with pre-payment ensures a 100% show rate (accurate as of August 5th, 2022).
  • Groubook provides users with features that make it easier and more rewarding when going out with friend groups. Users can search, book, pay their friends, access discounts, and earn rewards in their city.
  • Our geo-location push packages can also increase customer footfall within 5 minutes.
  • Groubook makes it simpler for operators to be more organised on large group bookings by taking pre-orders
  • We take away the stress of merchants issuing invoices, taking deposits & chasing bookings from users.
  • Ticketing, in-house capability to issue QR Scannable tickets

Business Model

  • 10% Commission

Groubook
Bradley Gough
Founder & CEO

Started in recruitment as an apprentice administrator at aged 16, worked his way up to becoming a Recruitment Consultant in the temporary construction division before starting his first business at age 19 which was a recruitment agency specialising in construction, this is where Bradley won his first large annual contract with a landscaping provider working on MoD basis. The venture ultimately failed due to bad-debt which was run up by a client and ultimately the business couldn’t recover.

After his first venture failed, he stayed in recruitment working for a local specialist as a BDM, landing annual contracts up to 6 million and winning 52 new clients in 6 months before moving on to becoming a Sales Director at a local agency. During this time, Brad found it hard to adjust to become an employee and set up his second business in October 2017 which was initially focussed as a recruitment business but split into a multifaceted service company with a FM arm and others, once again, Brad’s second business failed due to non-paying clients.

Brad had one more stint in recruitment with a national agency as a BDM before losing his job due to in his words, “falling out of love with the industry” Brad then went on to do some small business consulting, supporting clients with everything from sales to ops to marketing, he had 3 clients at the time he decided to focus his attention on Groubook.
